Nothing is more beautiful than love – except for a Combat Pant from Arc’teryx LEAF. It is both functional AND stylish. We have taken a look at it for you.
GREY MAN CONCEPT: Suitable Pants
After all the beautiful softshell pants like TALOS, DRAC, GRYPHON and SPHINX disappeared from Arc’teryx's lineup, the only one left was the Combat Pant. However, in its second generation, it is one of the best items from the LEAF series.
Why? Because Tweave® Durastretch®. That's the magic material it's made of. This four-way stretch material was already used in the SPHINX Pant and, in addition to elasticity, has the quality of excellent abrasion protection. Additionally, the material is windproof, breathable, quick-drying, and provides moderate moisture protection. It consists of 91% nylon and 9% spandex.
Arc’teryx has released a small video on testing the materials, which clearly shows how well the material withstands things like Velcro:
ITS Tactical has also tested the Combat Pant and written a few words about Tweave® Durastretch®, worth seeing and reading.
Like most Arc’teryx clothing, the Combat Pant is cut athletically. The pants fit snugly around the hips and buttocks, but still provide enough room for long underwear. Thanks to the 4-way stretch and the anatomically pre-shaped knee areas, you have unprecedented freedom of movement in all directions while wearing them.
Although the pants almost look like dress pants from a distance and more like climbing pants up close, they come with a full complement of ten pockets. These include spacious front pockets that provide enough room even when wearing gloves. On the back wall of each of these pockets, there is a zipper that houses a deep, slightly narrower pocket on each side.
The edges of the pants pocket in the rear are doubled in the back and serve as a knife/utility pocket – also on both sides.
The back pockets are integrated into the pants and are barely noticeable, only recognizable by the zippers present on both sides.
The thigh cargo pockets are particularly elegant. They are so flat that they are barely noticeable at first glance.
Thanks to the elastic material, they also offer plenty of space.
With a small Velcro patch on the inside, the cargo pocket can be transformed into a dump pouch.
This allows you to fold the flap inward and secure it with Velcro. This creates an opening that allows for easy filling and removal.
All pockets are strategically placed so they are fully functional with climbing gear.
To secure the pants against pests, you can tighten the leg closure with an elastic band. The cord stopper keeps the pants in place and prevents them from riding up.
The Combat Pant is closed with a snap button and zipper.
