For those who have treated themselves to a ballistic helmet in the style of an Ops-Core FAST Helmet, protecting the outer layer from unsightly scratches is a must. This protection is not only for aesthetic reasons, as a deep scratch can also compromise the protective effect. So, a helmet cover is necessary. AGILITE offers a well-fitting cover with many great features, and we took a look at it.
With the helmet cover from AGILITE, you can choose whether you want a counterweight pocket or not. We opted for the complete version. Here you can see the scope of delivery: the helmet cover, the counterweight pocket, and eight pieces of super-strong hook and loop points for mounting on the helmet.
The installation process is explained very clearly by AGILITE in their video. We followed this guide exactly, and it worked perfectly.
We used the ballistic helmet from Andres Industries with the cover in size L. The fit is overall very good. Only at the front around the night vision mounting plate, there is a slight wrinkle, but it doesn't bother us.
Running over the top of the AGILITE cover is a velcro area with a rubber drawstring that goes all the way to the night vision mounting plate. So, there is infinite space for cameras, strobes, or even patches.
On either side of the velcro strip, a mesh fabric is sewn. This serves for ventilation in the non-ballistic variants. But that's just a nice side effect; the main purpose of the mesh fabric is to act as a stretch strip for the perfect fit.
Following the mesh, a kind of "Daisy chain" is sewn in, as you would find on backpacks.
This serves on the AGILITE helmet cover for securing various cables. So, nothing dangles or sticks out, minimizing the risk of getting caught on something.
The counterweight pocket is also very easy to mount and has the same features as the Helmet Bridge from AGILITE – HERE our review of that.
Attached to the helmet cover, it looks even better.
You'll find sturdy loops on the sides of the counterweight pocket. With these and some gutted paracord, you can secure it additionally.
Simply loop through, form a loop of suitable size with a simple knot, and secure it with the mounting screw on the helmet. You'll need to loosen the screw a bit beforehand and then tighten it again.
As you can see, the AGILITE helmet cover fits very well on the helmet, as long as the size is correct. As a tip, most ballistic helmets are sized "Large." The stylish SPARTANAT Peace Pin was actually created by us, it should not be missing on any helmet.
CONCLUSION: The Gen4 helmet cover from AGILITE offers an optimal fit, with many very well thought out and useful features. AGILITE also offers this type of helmet cover for other helmet variants such as Team Wendy or M-Tek.
You can get the Agilite FAST Helmet Cover Gen4 directly from AGILITE for $69.90. The counterweight pocket costs $14.90. Ranger Green and Multicam are the color options available.
