REVIEW: ACT in Black PVS14 Smartphoneadapter

11/26/2018By Redaktion

Everyone who owns one knows how difficult it is to take good photos through the eyepiece. Yes, we're talking about night vision devices, specifically the PVS14. The guys from ACT in Black now offer, among many other useful accessories, a camera or smartphone adapter. We took a look at it.

There it is, the rather inconspicuous part. With a length of about 11 cm, a width of just under 4 cm, and a weight of 80 g, made of aluminum.

The large, serrated ring resembling a gear can be unscrewed, and the thumb screw can be loosened. But if you completely unscrew it, you'll have all the individual parts in front of you, six in total. To use the adapter with your PVS14, you need to remove the rubber eyecup and unscrew the mounting ring at the eyepiece, where you look into.

Some of you may have already guessed correctly, this is where the smartphone adapter is screwed on. The gear-like part serves as a locknut to keep everything securely in place.

Now comes the patience game with the adapter. To properly fit the smartphone, the thumb screw must be loosened. Then you can pull the bracket to the appropriate width and slide it to the right position simultaneously. This may take a bit of time at first. Once everything is where you want it, simply tighten the screw again.

Now you've made it, you can show the miraculous images of night vision to others as well. Very practical.

CONCLUSION: A simple construction that delivers what it promises and allows you to take steady photos through your PVS14. The adapter is not only suitable for the PVS14 but for all night vision devices that have the eyepiece thread. These include, for example: PVS14, ANVIS, Sentinel, AB Mod 3, DTNVG.

Available at ACT in Black for Euro 235,– (excluding shipping).
