The pants from 5.11 are considered classics and are very popular in America among police officers, security personnel, and Private Military Contractors - 5.11 Taclite Pro Pant in the front and Tactical Cargo in the back. SPARTANAT takes a closer look at the simple cut of these trousers and tells you what the advantage of these pants is.
Let's start with the back this time: The large back pockets have plenty of space. On the back right, there is also a strap that allows you to insert a large Maglite flashlight without losing it. The elastic waistband guarantees that you always have a bit of room in terms of sizing.
On the front, there is a small pocket for a keychain or a small flashlight. Both could be attached with a lanyard to the metal D-ring. Very good for people who like to carry a pocket knife with a clip: the front and back pockets of the trousers are reinforced at the lower corners so that the clip does not damage the pants, which usually happens.
Conveniently, an iPhone fits perfectly into the square, upright elongated pocket on the left side of the trousers. The thigh pockets are not very convincing. But they are enough to put some papers or a map inside.
CONCLUSION: The pants from 5.11 that we compared are the Taclite Pro Band (here in Coyote) and the Tactical Cargo (Khaki). The pants have the same cut but differ in fabric. Taclite has a plastic ripstop material, while the Cargo is made of cotton. The pants themselves are a very conservative model: If you want to shine fashionably, you won't choose the 5.11 Pant. No wonder, where else can you find pants with elastic waistbands and pleats. On the other hand, fashion is not the requirement. The pants are meant to be "tactical." And they are very practical with a thoughtful and clever pocket design. Visually, both have a bit of a grandpa style (there are more fashionable pants for this segment from Tad Gear), but they are extremely comfortable to wear. And the price also speaks for 5.11 Pants. Where else can you find pants of such quality for around 50 euros. If you do not want to use them as casual wear, you may be able to create a Private Military Contractor outfit with them.
The 5.11 pants are available in the German-speaking region, among others, at Recon Company. The 5.11 Taclite Pro Pant costs Euro 49.95 in various colors. The 5.11 Tactical Cargo costs the same. There is also a Tactical Short Version, which is priced at 39.95. On eBay, the pants cost about the same in dollars.
If the review is not enough, here is a slightly chatty video introduction of the 5.11 Taclite Pro Pant:
