Quad nods are practical. One issue, however, is that they have a tremendous weight. When the classic quads are flipped up, it feels like being a rhinoceros and the weight strains the neck. That's why night vision devices are generally preferred to be flipped towards the helmet, because the closer to the helmet and thus the head, the less the weight swings around.
NOCTURN INDUSTRIES have thought about this and developed the Ultralight Articulating Panoramic Night Vision Google (UAPNVG) Chimera. Pictures of the first functional prototype have been posted on Instagram. The night vision device can therefore be flipped up and folded in. Folding a single side is also possible. The entire construction is also lighter than the current quad configuration.
You can find the UAPNVG Chimera HERE on the NOCTURN INDUSTRIES website. NOCTURN INDUSTRIES will be at the SHOT SHOW 2023 at booth 62010.
