SEALs going through survival training in Alaska can be seen roaming around with a gigantic gray backpack. The monster has 130 liters and is the military version of the Bergans Alpinist Escape, made for Naval Special Warfare in Arctic Grey. This version is rather hard to come by, so we are showing you this backpack in a photo file.
The Bergans Alpinist Escape in full view.
The back panel: The padding speaks for the Alpinist Escape. It doesn't get any better...
Detail view of the shoulder straps.
And waist belt: extremely pronounced.
The side pockets can be removed. In the civilian version, they can also be assembled into an escape backpack. Whether this is the case with the military version, we do not know.
Now flat, but otherwise: a deep abyss. 130 liters, need we say more...
This is how the back cushioning is constructed... There is also a civilian version in Olive, which differs in several details from the NSW version, apart from the color.
