Photo File: US Special Forces in Libya

12/18/2015By Redaktion

Presumably, in Libya, the left hand no longer knows what the right hand is doing. On the Facebook page of the Libyan Air Force, this group of travelers was "leaked", who were stranded at the Wattiya air base and then - quite "patriotically" - were asked to leave the country immediately. The tourists in civilian clothing are relatively unmistakably American Special Forces. The ODA element, it was rumored, was supposed to meet with the Libyan army, supposedly more for training than for operations ... Although, the neighboring desert is already home to the Islamic State.

If it weren't for all the weapons in the first picture, one could mistake it for a trekking group that arrived with this inconspicuous aircraft. These are actually the first pictures of US special forces in Libya, who are quite relaxedly "boots on the ground" - and then retreat when it becomes clear that they are not currently welcome there.

It is likely that they are not the first or the only Western special forces, as shown in this picture, because the vehicle definitely does not fit in the plane brought by the Americans. Whether these are other ODAs or British SAS that they are encountering here, we do not know...

From the back, maybe the same vehicle, possibly another one...

Civilian touring in enemy territory: Plaid shirt and jeans, messenger bag with Comtacs, a Garmin GPS on the wrist. The weapon is a MK18 Mod1 with black rail and Surefire suppressor, AN/PEQ15 and EOTech 553 from the large SOCOM Block II crate. And quite hipster, the gentlemen from the first picture ... But the secrecy doesn't seem to be working quite well, as the Libyan Air Force has blown the pictures of the Americans all over the world via Facebook and Twitter.
