ON TOUR: Workshop visit FROG.PRO

02/27/2023By Redaktion

An Italian journey, which we have also undertaken. No, not like Goethe, who was on his way south of the Alpine ridge from 1786 to 1788. We were only there for two days and made it to Parma. And not because of the famous culinary delights - although we can't complain about that - but because of the good gear. FROG.PRO, the "Armani" among Italian gear manufacturers, is located there, and we visited their workshop.

How does gear come about? Gear is made out of material. Even at FROG.PRO, ten minutes outside the city center of Parma, the starting material is important and the well-stocked warehouse is the basis for producing equipment in different materials and colors.

But the sum of the parts is more than just the parts themselves. FROG.PRO has early on focused on Lasercut, which is evident in the workshop equipment. When you see the parts, you know what you are looking at.

This is what a panel on the computer looks like that controls the Lasercutter. Here, the observer can already recognize the characteristic design language for FROG.PRO: MOLLE with dot cutouts.

And this is what it looks like when the suction stops working and the lid of the large Lasercutter opens. You can never have enough MOLLE...

The Italians produce on a daily basis. And in addition to the Lasercut parts, all the other ingredients are added. Together, they make a whole: these are Orthos Med Pouches.

Looking for another color? No, this is still not fashion, but MOLLE for IFAK bags for first responders, which are designed in high visibility colors.

Now all that's left is for someone to come and assemble everything exactly and precisely. Seamstresses sit at the industrial machines, building the gear that you all know from the individual parts, step by step. Here, a IFAK is in progress.

Work that requires a lot of patience and precision, because equipment consists of many parts and is constructed step by step. Until the FROG.PRO product is finished.

Also still there: classic MOLLE straps that allow for mounting options on the equipment.

And not to forget: plenty of plastic parts with special functions.

There are several workstations that FROG.PRO has created. All gear is produced on-site by local workers.

Then comes the shipping. What is finished, gets packaged. Before that, the quality control takes a strict look at everything and ensures that everything is as good as you expect from FROG.PRO.

The Italian equipment manufacturer has a wide range of products to offer: here is the very special Sniper CORE Chest Rig. It has been designed for special forces, and we will introduce it separately soon.

Other items are more everyday, like belts. Below is the Inner Belt, above it the Equipment Belt, and on top the belt padding that can be attached to the belt to prevent the War Belt from slipping when worn over a jacket.

And of course, plenty of different pouches for all purposes that are needed for operations.

"The Italian has a deeper sense of the high dignity of art than other nations," writes Goethe in his famous Italian travelogue. Sounds pompous today, but it has a true core that can be found not only among the many fashion companies in the area of Milan and Parma. Fabio Casali, the founder and soul of FROG.PRO, combines functionality and style, and both together result in the best equipment from Italy in his designs: FROG.PRO.
