Our knife taste is dangerous, it usually starts over $400. SPARTAN BLADES are now destroying the illusion. They now offer a product line in the mid-price segment with the Bronze Line. It all started with some solid fixed blade knives. Now, we can also look forward to the first folders.
The Talos, a Linerlock Folder designed by Bill Harsey, has a blade length of 3.12"/79.3mm, making it slightly more compact than the recently launched 3.25" version of the now iconic Spartan Harsey Folders. There is also a model designed by Les George named Astor. With a blade length of 3.5"/88.9mm, it is a bit more substantial. The blades of both models are made from premium CTS XHP and are 0.12"/3mm thick. The construction with one-sided liner in G10 scales is a challenge in terms of weight. The Talos weighs in at just 0.146 lbs/66 grams and should please those who found the heavier titanium framelocks to be too much.
The Astor weighs 0.32 lbs - 145 grams, making it more massive. Both knives are available in textured green G10. The Talos is also available in black and the Astor in black G10 with a carbon layer, giving the model an elegant look. Both folders run on sintered bronze washers impregnated with oil. Spartan Blades calls this principle "Oil Infused Bronze Bushing System", or simply "OIBBS". Longevity and reliability are likely to be guaranteed. The new knives will soon be available at G-Gear.
