UF PRO introduces the new Delta Eagle Gen.3 Tactical Softshell Jacket. "The Delta Eagle Gen.3 Tactical Softshell Jacket offers convincing, lightweight protection, maximum comfort, and an optimal fit with top performance for operations in damp and cold environments," says Armin Wagner, head of product development at UF PRO. "We are convinced that operators will appreciate the soft and warm material of the jacket. As well as the fact that it dries quickly and facilitates access to their belt-carried equipment and holsters."
According to Wagner, the Delta Eagle Gen.3 Tactical Softshell Jacket eliminates a number of common problems seen in competitors in this category, such as a construction that impairs comfort, material stiffness that restricts mobility, design limitations that hinder functionality, and a tendency to overheat the wearer during strenuous activities.
"The Delta Eagle Gen.3 Tactical Jacket is a softshell that truly lives up to its name," he emphasizes. "This we owe to our completely re-imagined softshell construction, to create an extremely soft softshell jacket with the best microfleece technology available on the market."
Wagner explained that conventional softshell jackets consist of three layers that are glued together - an outer fabric, an inner membrane, and an inner microfleece lining. This structure results in a "fairly thick and heavy jacket," says Wagner. "However, by redefining the proven concept, by separating the three essential layers from each other and replacing the adhesive with an air layer, we have developed a softshell jacket that offers better breathability and better thermal insulation, resulting in higher warmth performance. Furthermore, this new approach in jacket construction results in a softer, more efficient material that is less restrictive, quieter, and easier to compress when compared to older softshell materials."
In the shoulders of the Delta Eagle Gen.3 Tactical Jacket, the renowned air/pac® padding system from UF PRO is integrated. According to Wagner, this provides an additional insulation layer by bringing air between the fabric and the wearer's body. "Furthermore, it prevents the direct contact of backpack or plate carrier straps with the body, thus providing a continuous drying effect," he explains.

"We also designed the jacket to make it easier to access equipment carried on the belt," Wagner continues. "There is a snap button at the hip - when opened, the lower hem opens and the jacket is attached to the holster with a drawstring. This way, the handgun or knife is always within reach, while the jacket protects against the elements."
The UF PRO designer also points out a strategically placed two-way zipper that runs on each side of the jacket from the hem to about elbow height. "The purpose of these zippers is to allow wearers to better regulate their body temperature," he said.
Another new feature of the jacket is the Hood/Harness® system for packing and unpacking the hood, designed for quick deployment and to keep the wearer's neck warm when the waterproof hood is stowed in the collar, Wagner adds.
