More thermal imaging for the US ARMY

09/05/2024

LEONARDO DRS has received a contract for the continued production of the next generation of its thermal targeting devices for the U.S. Army. The production contract worth $117 million was awarded under the ongoing IDIQ contract Family of Weapon Sights – Individual (FWS-I).

The FWS-I utilizes DRS's uncooled thermal imaging technology and is a standalone, detachable sight that can wirelessly connect to helmet-mounted vision systems such as the "Enhanced Night Vision Goggle Binoculars" (ENVG-B) night vision device and the "next-gen integrated visual augmentation system." It enables target acquisition during both day and night, in various adverse environmental conditions, providing strategic and tactical advantages on the battlefield.
