More rockets from THALES

07/02/2024By Redaktion

THALES Belgium has inaugurated a new production line for 70mm rocket systems at its Herstal site. A few months earlier, the Belgian Minister of Defense, Ludivine Dedonder, signed an intent letter showing support for the expansion of Thales' ammunition production. The increased production rates will allow for a faster response to the ammunition needs of the armed forces. The rocket is of the 70 mm (2.75 inch) caliber according to NATO standards and is currently being used in Ukraine.

In less than a year, Thales Belgium has laid the groundwork for increased production of 70mm rockets to meet the needs of European armed forces. Thales Belgium is the sole manufacturer of this ammunition in Europe. To ramp up production, the company has hired over 50 new employees and strengthened the supply chain. The production capacity is set to increase from 1,000 to 5,000 rockets by 2025.

The rockets developed by Thales Belgium are highly interoperable and can be used by numerous manned and unmanned land, air, and sea vehicles. They are also suitable for use in drone defense systems and to support ground-to-ground attacks.
