More logistics vehicles for the Federal Army

12/19/2023By Redaktion

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) has once again achieved a significant sales success in Austria. The company has been able to win an additional lot of logistics vehicles for the Austrian Armed Forces. An extension of the existing framework contract with the Federal Procurement Agency Vienna (BBG) provides for the delivery of up to 300 vehicles, mainly from the HX vehicle family. The contract extension for the newly won lot has a duration of 48 months and offers the possibility of flexible call-offs of vehicles worth over 300 million EUR.

In spring 2023, Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles won all six military lots of a total of 23 truck lots in a tender. The subsequent existing framework contract is designed for seven years and provides for deliveries of up to 1,375 vehicles from the HX, TGS, and TGM series. The original contract volume was up to 525 million EUR. With the award of the additional lot, the framework contract volume for Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles increases to over 825 million EUR.

The increase in the framework contract, concluded in spring 2023, is part of a comprehensive modernization of the Austrian Armed Forces. The Austrian Armed Forces plan significant investments in the military as part of their "2032 Development Plan." One of the key pillars of the plan, the improvement of the mobility of the forces, is reflected in the now extensively equipped BBG framework contract.

Austrian Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner recently visited the plant in Vienna-Liesing. Minister Tanner praised the work of the Vienna workforce: "I am impressed by the high level of professionalism that is demonstrated here. And I am glad that the Austrian armed forces have such a reliable partner in RMMV." "The extension of the framework contract with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH is another strong signal for the modernization of the armed forces, but also particularly for the Austrian economy," said Michael Wittlinger, Managing Director of RMMV. "We are proud to deliver not only Austrian value creation but also a significant contribution to the resilience, autonomy, and sustainability of the Austrian armed forces from our location in Vienna-Liesing."

The Austrian Armed Forces have been a very good customer of RMMV for many years. Various vehicles from the TGM, TGS, and HX series are already successfully in use. In the first half of 2023, an order was placed through the new framework contract for 850 TGMs with double cabins and interchangeable body systems, as well as 15 HX81 tank transporters including an eight-axle trailer. Furthermore, vehicles from the HX series with a three-way tipper body and rear crane, as well as vehicles from the TGS 8×8 series with Palfinger hook systems, are in the supply chain for the coming years. At the end of 2021, the army also ordered the integrated protected exchangeable cabin "Integrated Armoured Cabin." It can be quickly mounted on the existing HX series vehicles depending on requirements.
