AeroVironment has announced the planned acquisition of Tomahawk Robotics, a leading provider of AI-based robot control systems. The acquisition will enable a deeper integration of the technologies of both companies, resulting in improved interoperability and interconnectivity of unmanned systems through a single platform with similar control functions. This will allow operators to deploy various networked robotic solutions on the battlefield and exchange information between different domains with a common controller. The two companies have entered into a definitive agreement under which AeroVironment will acquire 100% of the stock of Tomahawk Robotics for a total purchase price of $120 million in cash and stock.
Tomahawk Robotics was founded in 2018 by Brad Truesdell and Matt Summer and is the visionary force behind the groundbreaking Kinesis ecosystem, an unparalleled tactical capability primarily designed for combat. At the heart of this innovation is Kinesis, an AI-powered, collaborative command system with an open architecture that seamlessly integrates a network of combat-proven unmanned expeditionary vehicles, sensors, and third-party software into a single pane of glass. The innovative Kinesis ecosystem provides human-machine teams throughout the battlespace with targeted situational awareness and precise attack capabilities.
