Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) has delivered the most modern versions of the Leopard 2 to Denmark and Germany. Frank Haun, CEO of KMW, presented the symbolic keys of the first two vehicle systems to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark, Friis Arne Petersen, and to the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defense, Peter Tauber.
Both nations will receive comparable variants of the Leopard 2 A7 main battle tank. Protection, mobility, firepower, and manageability have been significantly improved. Key features include an even higher level of protection, powerful power supply, new NBC and air conditioning systems, and the integration of C4I systems to meet the requirements of modern networked operations. The modernization of the drivetrain and further optimization of weapon stabilization while driving enhance the agility and combat power of the vehicles.
The Danish Army will receive a total of 44 Leopard 2 A7 by 2022. The German Bundeswehr will acquire 104 Leopard 2 A7V by 2023.
