Combat Vehicles

More artillery for Norway

11/08/2022By Redaktion

The Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA) has today signed an option with Hanwha Defense from South Korea for the delivery of four additional 155mm K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers and eight additional K10 ammunition resupply vehicles.

The exercised option is part of an original contract worth 1.8 billion kroner (180 million US dollars) signed between the two parties in 2017, and increases Oslo's total order of K9 systems to 28. Similarly, the procurement of K10, the supporting automated resupply unit of the K9, will increase to a total of 14 vehicles. All deliveries are expected to be completed within the next two years.

Norway is soon to decide on the procurement of new main battle tanks: the German Leopard is up against the Korean K2.
