MAGPUL and ZEV turn pistol into a case

01/16/2021By Redaktion

An old dream comes true: Under the names FDP-9 & FDC-9, what was presented in 2008 by Magpul as a design study for the "Folding Machine Gun" FMG-9 is now being produced in 2021. Back then made for Glock, nothing ever came of the exceptional design. Well, not entirely, there was the briefcase by PTS for airsoft players. Now Magpul has teamed up with ZEV and the result is this:

In 2019, ZEV Technologies® released its modular pistol OZ9, which is compatible with Glock and uses a unique slide independent of the pistol grip, allowing the user to change the frame according to their needs.

Shortly after that, Magpul and ZEV started a collaboration to realize the concept of the folding handgun with their own version of the ZEV OZ9 and Magpul housing. Since then, we have refined the design and obtained the necessary legal approvals. The result: The ZEV Technologies Folding Defensive Pistol-9 (FDP-9) and Folding Defensive Carbine-9 (FDC-9), both in 9x19mm. The whole concept is tailored to U.S. gun laws: one is, simplifying, a pistol with a stock system (pistol carbine), the other is a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR).

Glock is no longer involved. The whole thing is no longer intended as a pistol carbine kit for pistols, but comes as a complete weapon. However, a Glock 17-round 9mm magazine can be used, or the Magpul PMAG 27 GL9. HERE is the whole story at Magpul.
