For the third time at the end of May, the LYNX BRUTALITY event organized by POLENAR TACTICAL took place. Once again, many motivated shooters gathered at the Lynx Pro Training Center, including slightly more female shooters than last year. A new division was introduced this year, the Stalker Division. Participants in this division not only have to carry at least 12 kilograms of specified equipment, but also wear a gas mask with a functional gas filter on all stages.
A total of 120 participants, divided into morning and afternoon groups, and further divided into individual stages. Participants came from various countries, with strong representation from Europe, as well as participants from America, Israel, and South Africa.
We started with Supply Monkey. Participants start seated in a truck and when the signal is given, they have to grab their rifle and run to the tire.
The shooter must fire 10 shots through the tire at an IPSC Micro Target. The shooting hand must either touch the tire or the rifle must be far enough in to avoid receiving a penalty. Once this is done, participants return to the truck to retrieve bolt cutters.
With the bolt cutters, three chain links must be cut, followed by another 10 shots with the rifle. Participants then return the bolt cutters to the truck and carry a large ammunition box to the rocket launcher. The box is filled with water and weighs just over 20 kilograms.
Then it's time to shoot again. Participants return the box to the truck and as a final challenge, shoot a steel target with a pistol from the truck, about 20 meters away.
The challenge here was to consider the offset of the rifle and ultimately hit the steel target with the pistol after all the exertion. When cutting the chain links, it was advisable to fully open the bolt cutters and not place them on the weld.
A relatively simple stage. Five wooden bars are on the ground, each with a BlazePod at the end. The BlazePod lights up and reacts to vibration or gunshot. The sequence is predetermined. Starting from the far left, shooting is done with the weak shooting hand. Then switch to the right side, using only the strong hand. Back to the left side, weak hand. Then all the way to the far right, using the right hand. Finally, in the middle, shoot with both hands.
At first, you think it's not that hard. However, you have two magazines with exactly 15 shots each. In total, you go through the parkour 6 times. Therefore, you cover some meters, shoot 12 times with your left hand and 12 times with your right hand, and 6 times with both hands. Placing all shots on the target? Not so easy in the end and under time pressure...
At the beginning of this stage, the shooter has to shoot 5 steel targets from three openings in the barricade. Only when all targets have been hit, can you proceed.
Grab a 16-kilogram sandbag and navigate through a small maze that is electrified.
Place the sandbag in the designated area and shoot five steel targets with the pistol. The opening can be freely chosen. Once you have completed this, you have to go through the whole procedure again until the stage was completed.
This stage was unfortunately canceled after the first day and removed from the scoring (Martin Thaler from IMPACT AUSTRIA even had the best time here.). The reason for this was unfortunately the ground conditions. It had rained heavily days before, and the ground was very soft. The more participants went through the stage, the harder it became, and the maze also suffered from the many runs.
An additional difficulty with the barricade was that the openings were narrower than those of the V-Tac barricade. 3D printed suppressors were mostly too thick for this one.
It's more or less mandatory at a Brutality Match to do a Kasarda Drill (Kettlebell throw). This year brought a never-before-seen variation of it. A 36-kilogram kettlebell chained to a 24-kilogram kettlebell. First had to be thrown the heavy one, then the "light" one.
Where the red 36-kilogram landed, the shooter had to shoot at a steel target. Markers with sandbags were placed on the ground. The more times you brought both kettlebells over the marker, the more bonus time you could score. Therefore, the full three minutes had to be thrown.
A high stress and also not easy task: shooting at a target about 140 meters away. Some participants had anticipated this and brought a bipod. However, POLENAR hung the targets so low that shooting from a prone position was usually not possible.
The last stage of the day also starts with a classic - Fast Roping. The candidate lowers themselves from the first floor and runs into the designated area.
Here, one must fire 5 shots with the rifle from a prone position, 5 shots from a kneeling position, and 5 shots from a standing position at an IPSC Micro Target. Then they can run up to the second floor of the tower, ring a bell, and come back down to the first floor. There, they must abseil down again and the fun can continue.
There are 29 steel targets waiting, all of which must fall within the remaining time. Two Polish-Plate Racks and two Texas Stars can be shot at as desired. So, if one is spinning too fast, it's better to switch. Only when all steel targets are down does the timer stop.
For those who didn't have to actively participate in the competition, they could spend their time at the Expo, which was held concurrently for spectators and participants. Team America chatting here with the guys from BLACKBEAR SOLUTION.
OBERLAND ARMS were also represented at the LYNX BRUTALITY event, alongside the AUSTRIA ARMS Action Days. Here you can see the G96C with an in-house optic and suppressor. A truly beautiful piece and definitely suitable for BRUTALITY!
Georg from the IWA Team also did not miss the spectacle. Here he is chatting with Niels Kirchhoff from AREX DEFENSE.
Among many other booths from sponsors and partners, NOVRITSCH was also present. A small shooting range with airsofts provided fun and entertainment.
That's all for the first day - rest and recovery are recommended as preparation for the second day.
