Leopard 2 A7 Norway: Order for RHEINMETALL

The Rheinmetall AG has received an important order in connection with a significant NATO tank project. On February 17, 2023, the Norwegian defense procurement agency, NDMA, awarded the general contractor Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) the contract to deliver 54 Leopard 2 type tanks in the latest version (A7 NOR) to the Norwegian armed forces. An additional 18 combat vehicles are optional.

The Düsseldorf-based technology company Rheinmetall has now been tasked as a subcontractor of KMW to deliver key components. This includes the 120mm L55A1 weapon systems, fire control technology, and parts of the sensors. The total value of Rheinmetall's contract is 129 million EUR. If the option to purchase additional Leopard 2 tanks is exercised, the contract value will increase by 44 million EUR.

The delivery of weapon systems, fire control technology, and sensors of the Leopard 2 to KMW will span over a period of approximately four years.
