KSK snipers are shooting with Wilcox RAPTAR-S.

10/17/2017By Redaktion

One must not only hit the target, but also be faster. Both together is the special challenge for snipers. In the German Special Forces (KSK), the sniper team not only introduced the new Haenel G29, but also a Steiner 5-25×56 scope with Horus reticle - more information about the Steiner optics HERE on SPARTANAT. The next level of enhancement is the procurement of the Wilcox RAPTAR-S. Through IEA MIL OPTICS, 115 systems are coming to the German Special Forces. The RAPTAR-S is a laser rangefinder that can reach up to 1,550 meters. It also has a built-in ballistic calculator. It uses "Applied Ballistic" software, which is used by many special forces units. In addition, the RAPTAR-S can IR-illuminate the target. It also has an IR and a visible laser. With both, the sniper can work up to 1,500 meters. And this is possible with High and Low Power modes. The whole system is powered - which will be expensive - with a CR123A battery (common in America, a 10 Euro camera battery here). This battery lasts for seven hours of work or 1,500 measurements. The international use - our pictures show American Special Forces with the RAPTAR-S - and the quality of the system have led to a quick procurement. Wishing has helped: shown for the first time in 2016 at the KSK Symposium, now already there.

The RAPTAR-S even allows the sniper to dispense with the spotter. Corrections come from the ballistic calculator and can be immediately implemented in conjunction with the Horus reticle. No more clicks are necessary. Of course, RAPTAR-S is fully night-vision capable. And waterproof up to one meter (so it's not really for ambitious combat swimmers).
