KSK receives LLM - VTAL from Rheinmetall

06/05/2018By Redaktion

The Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) has awarded a follow-up contract to the Düsseldorf-based defense company Rheinmetall. Around 1,745 new Laser-Light-Modules called "Variable Tactical Aiming Laser" (VTAL) are being ordered.

The module, somewhat reminiscent of an AN/PEQ15, is intended to be mounted on the new G95 rifles of the KSK. The VTAL is waterproof up to 30 meters, has a lightweight and sturdy aluminum housing, protrudes only 25 millimeters above the mounting rail. In addition to a red dot laser, it also has a laser in the infrared range and an illuminator in the near infrared. The intensity can be adjusted by the user, and the illuminator can be focused using a knob.
