Crye Precision has now released the new, redesigned Jumpable Plate Carrier (JPC) online. Reason enough for us to take a closer look at the plate carrier that was presented at the Shot Show 2015. You can see it above. The gray part immediately announces a major change: the belly flap is not automatically included, the JPC 2.0 is modular. In the future, the flap will come from the AVS system and can be purchased separately.
View from the back reveals a major change, the attached zippers are for Crye's backpack system. Otherwise, the 2.0 still looks very much like the JPC... The Cumberbund remains unchanged.
The abdomen has Velcro. The belly flaps are attached and can now be very different: only MOLLE or sealable pockets (M4 or 7.62). The AVS system has four options. And the JPC now reminds us very clearly of the system from Ferro Concepts... Another possibility is now to combine carrier and chest rig. Crye will also offer a small MOLLE rig to clip on. Surely, the D3CR Chest Rig from Haley Strategic will also fit.
Backwards again the zippers and an attached backpack element. A practical solution that further integrates parts of Crye with the JPC. This causes the JPC to become more and more like a heavier armor. It almost reduces itself to a slick. With a chest rig and backpack, that is already large and a complex system.
It also fits that now a release system is integrated. First at the abdomen "click", then at the shoulders, detach... And everything (except hopefully the wearer) falls to the ground. Perhaps important for the heavier system JPC 2.0 - whether it is necessary will show.
The JPC 2.0 on Crye Precision's website. The basic version is priced at $359 there. Crye can be found in Germany at TACWRK.
