CORVUS DEFENSIO modernizes the AUG - step by step. At IWA 17, the Vienna-based company showcased two fully equipped rifles. One of them is the Steyr AUG in a DMR configuration with parts from CORVUS on top. We know that the Short Dot with red dot distracts, as does the wonderful body con Water Dip Design from Graz. The innovation can be seen at the front of the rifle: a new handguard for the AUG.
Front view: the two-piece handguard attaches to the A3 rail by CORVUS and encompasses the barrel and gas system extensively. Advantage: It also serves as a heat shield, remaining cool even under sustained fire.
At the same time, it serves as an accessory carrier. CORVUS DEFENSIO uses KeyMod, as evident here.
This allows a small piece of Picantinny to be easily mounted on the side using KeyMod. Here we see the new weapon light from Innforce attached to it. Underneath is a long section of rail, allowing for an Angled Foregrip (Magpul) and a bipod to be mounted there. We think it's an extremely sharp DMR.
