Ireland's new camouflage pattern

11/29/2023By Redaktion

Although the pattern has been kept under wraps until now, photos of the new camouflage pattern for the Irish Defence Forces have recently been released, which will soon replace the four-color DPM pattern used since 2000. Although it is called "Disruptive Pattern Material" like the old British camouflage pattern, the two patterns have no resemblance.

The Irish Defence Forces are officially known as Óglaigh na hÉireann and consist of the Army, Air Corps, Navy, and Reserve.

This new national pattern was developed by Crye Precision and owes some obvious design references and the color palette to MultiCam. However, the Irish Transitional MultiCam Pattern has a very special element. You will notice two stylized versions of the letter "F," which stands for "Fianna Fáil" (Irish for "Soldiers of Destiny" or "Soldiers of Ireland," not the political party).

In addition to the ITMP, Irish troops will also receive completely new clothing, the DF Combat Clothing System. The cost of the new equipment is estimated to be over 40 million Euros. It is still in the development phase and will be available in both men's and women's sizes.
