Tom Weber is now someone you can look at every day. Not because he's so handsome, but because MILpictures together with TRIPLE ACTION has released two wonderful calendars for 2021 – we introduced them to you here. We wanted to know from Tom how the cooperation came about and what else he's up to right now.
SPARTANAT: Tom, you have two exclusive new calendars for the upcoming year in collaboration with TRIPLE ACTION. What can one expect from these calendars throughout the year?
Tom Weber: So, I tried to select a balanced collection from my archive of over 10,000 tactical pictures for both the ELITE WARRIORS calendar and the LAW ENFORCEMENT calendar.
Both operational forces and enthusiasts should feel addressed by the photos. Therefore, impressive mood shots were mixed with photos that also show interesting equipment and weaponry.
It wasn't easy. The initial selection consisted of about 100 photos per calendar. About 50 were eliminated in the second round. After that, some friends from the tactical field helped me make an even closer selection, and hopefully at the end 13 really good photos remain.
SPARTANAT: TRIPLE ACTION has already made a name for itself in Germany as a store with good gear. How did the collaboration come about?
Tom Weber: TRIPLE ACTION is a really good, highly professional company. One of the managing directors, Waldemar Welter, has long been a fan of my work and inquired about a collaboration. From this, this beautiful project with two calendars was created very quickly.
SPARTANAT: Despite the many work, you managed to design the calendar. What is the project that you are currently enjoying the most at the moment?
Tom Weber: Just my last photoshoot was something completely different from the usual tactical shootings. Since I am a collector and lover of special knives, I was very excited to shoot a project about the two Last Blood knives from the final part of the Rambo series together with Dietmar Pohl and his assistant Sebastian Lucke. Originally, we were supposed to shoot in the United States, but unfortunately the Corona pandemic got in the way, so we ended up shooting in the south of Austria.
We all had a lot of fun together, as Dietmar is the same age as me and the Rambo theme has connected us since our youth. Dietmar Pohl became a world-famous knife designer through the movie and the inspiration from the First Blood knife, and I became a sniper as a professional soldier in the military. In 2006, we founded our companies Pohl Force and MILpictures almost at the same time.
What I enjoyed the most beforehand was designing the photo sets, so the set design. I built several sets with many original props inspired by the movie and we shot riding scenes on a horse ranch with a very authentic barn, similar to the one in the film. But this time it was not about Sylvester Stallone, but about the designer of the two beautiful knives and his story, which begins with Rambo First Blood and ends with Last Blood.
