HOW TO: Tie your fast rope!

11/12/2010By Redaktion

On the excellent blog of ITS Tactical there was an article series some time ago on how to knot a Fast Rope yourself. Of course, we had to try it out immediately and today we want to show you our results:

The "rope" is about 4.50 meters long, but it stretches to almost 6 meters under load. That might not sound like much, but it's about the height of a second floor, and it can be quite challenging to climb up there. We didn't use climbing rope because it was too expensive for us, instead we used 60 meters of 9mm diameter commando rope from the Miltec company for our Fast Rope. We initially tried using nylon ropes from the hardware store, but stay away from those. We don't actually intend to use it as a Fast Rope since we lack a helicopter. But we simply use it for rope climbing, which is actually a very good fitness exercise.

Here we share the links to ITS Tactical and their videos. In these videos, everything is explained very well. Don't be afraid of the English language, they demonstrate everything so well in the video that you will understand. And maybe one day we can test it out like in the picture above.

In this spirit: Happy knotting! And take a whole day to do it, because starting over is not so easy...
