HOW TO: Build Your MK13 MOD0

07/30/2010By Redaktion

Everyone wants to have an MK13 Flare, but the originals are very, very, very hard to come by and the dummy is too expensive for many. But today we want to show you how you can easily and cheaply build this flare yourself. We have tried out a few different models and want to show you the - in our opinion - best one. Have fun building your own flare wishes SPARTANAT.

Materials needed:

  • PVC pipe with 40mm diameter
  • 2 orange juice bottles from Hofer (Aldi), blood orange, orange
  • MK13 Label (<-Link for download, Attention large!)
  • Glue: UHU Stic and hot/super glue

First, cut a 110 mm long piece off the PVC pipe and deburr it. Now cut off the thread of the plastic bottle (see image), deburr it and glue it into the tube, preferably with super glue or hot glue. Repeat the same on the other side of the pipe, it should look like this:

The next step is the most complicated one, namely printing the label in the correct size. The image deliberately kept large to guarantee good print quality. However, we have created a PDF for you containing 2 labels in the correct size LINK (do not adjust page setting when printing, otherwise they will be too small). Once you have done that, you just have to glue it flush between the threads. UHU Stic has proven to work best for this. Now you can also add a self-adhesive cover film (the thing you stick on school books for protection) over the label as a kind of water protection.

Now screw on the orange and red caps at the ends - and you have done it, congratulations! The caps can also be glued directly to the tube, but in the way described by us, the flare can also be used as a transport container for small items.

Good luck with crafting wishes SPARTANAT, and be careful not to get hurt!
