The manufacturer HOLOSUN can rightfully compete with the Red Dot Big Players like Aimpoint or EOTech. This is explained by DWJ in its comprehensive article in issue 10/2018 - full article here as PDF: Holosun_DWJ 2018-10, S.40-43.
Many shooters are already familiar with the HOLOSUN brand for its Tube Reflex Sights, but the manufacturer is now penetrating the market with its own Micro Series for handguns and authorities.
In summary:
HS507 C - ideal for short distances
Now available: the first Mini Reflex Sight in the style of typical Micro Sights. It comes in a black plastic case with CR2032 battery, installation tool, cleaning cloth, detailed instruction manual (including images), and Picatinny mount.
The absolute highlights: The HS507C not only has a 23 x 16mm lens, a robust T7075 aluminum housing, and solar cell, but you can even choose between three different reticles (Dot with 2MOA, Circle with 32MOA, and a combination Circle-Dot) - all easily done at the push of a button without shifting the point of impact. Thus, the HS507C combines all the advantages of other Reflex Sights in one device.
The solar operation increases the battery life and efficiency (100,000 hours for dot reticle, 50,000 hours for circle+dot reticle), the automatic brightness adjustment always adapts the brightness of the reticle to the ambient light. If necessary, the brightness adjustment can also be set manually or completely turned off. The intelligent Shake Awake technology puts the sight into sleep mode after ten minutes, and it activates again with movement - in the last used setting.
The point of impact can be adjusted by a simple click adjustment (adjustment range horizontally and vertically: 40MOA each, adjustable in ½-MOA increments). In addition, the sight can be mounted on any MIL-STD-M1913 Picatinny rail and is compatible with any mount that fits Trijicon RMR too.
HS515C-M/G-M - ideal for authorities and military
Both models feature a switchable reticle, but there are only two different types of reticles here: dot (2MOA Dot) and circle-dot (65MOA circle + internal 2MOA Dot). While the 515G-M does not have a solar cell, the 515C-M has a solar cell and the automatic brightness adjustment already described in the 507C. The Shake Awake technology is available for both.
For both sights, battery life is 50,000 hours (dot) / 20,000 hours (circle). The adjustment range of the point of impact, adjustable in ½-MOA increments, is 50MOA horizontally and vertically. DWJ tests have shown that the sights can be easily operated with gloves. Furthermore, they are dustproof, waterproof, and IPX-8 certified.
Both models can be mounted on any MIL-STD-M1913 or STANAG-4694 rail. Included are a CR2032 battery, installation tool, cleaning cloth, killflash honeycomb grid, adjustable Picatinny QD mount, spacer (for lower 1/3 co-witness) and transparent flip caps protective covers for ocular and objective. The glass flaps allow target acquisition even when closed.
The HS506 is a tube model with a 30mm objective, where you can choose between dot (2MOA Dot) and circle-dot reticle (65MOA circle + internal 2MOA Dot). The A-version (HS506A) is battery operated only, while the C-version (HS506C) includes a solar panel. Both versions are compatible with Picatinny rails of MIL-STD M1913 or NATO STANAG 4694. To change the battery, the sight does not need to be removed from the rail.
The 506 comes with mounting tool, flip-open cover, an instruction manual, and a cleaning cloth.
Innomount/Innogun quick-release mount
For the 515 series and all other HOLOSUN optics "with Aimpoint Micro H1/T1 or H2/T2 Footprint" (see DWJ article), Innogun has developed a fixed, repeatable quick-release mount - operable with gloves, with ergonomic design, and high-quality made in Germany.
CONCLUSION:The conclusion of DWJ is consistently positive: the high-quality HOLOSUN sights are perfect for quick shots at short (Circle-Dot) to medium distances (Dot). Also, the price-performance ratio is quite convincing:
The Holosun HS 507C costs 359.90 Euro. The HS 515C-M 419.90 Euro, the G-M version 383.90 Euro. For the HS 506 you have to pay 287.90 Euro. The quick-release mount from Innogun costs 195 Euro.
All Holosun products are distributed in Germany by Laserluchs GmbH. The quick-release mount can be obtained from both Laserluchs and directly from the manufacturer.
