High-end night vision attachments for hunting

German hunters take note: in June 2020, the handling of night vision attachments falling under the firearms prohibition according to § 2 paragraph 3 i. V. m. Appendix 2 section 1 No. 1.2.4.2 was re-regulated:

• 2.1 are night vision devices with integrated reticle and mounting device. These remain prohibited, no exemptions.
• 2.2 are night vision attachments without reticle, but with a (partly removable) mounting device. These remain prohibited. Holders of a valid hunting license or firearms trading permit are now allowed to handle them and use them for hunting.
• 2.3 are dual-use night vision attachments without reticle but with a removable mounting device. Dual-use devices are designed for both handheld use or for mounting on day optics such as riflescopes or binoculars. These become prohibited items only when mounted on firearms or if they are mounted on the weapon - holders of a valid hunting license or firearms trading permit are exempt from this prohibition.

What does this mean for hunters?
