60 years young and not a bit older, the combat swimmers from Eckernförde are celebrating their birthday.
On Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11 am, the Special Forces Command of the Navy celebrates its sixtieth anniversary with a solemn roll call and a dynamic demonstration in the presence of the President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament, Kristina Herbst, the Prime Minister of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, as well as numerous guests from society, politics, and the military.
Since 2014, the combat swimmers have been the core of the Special Forces Command of the Navy (KSM). The unit was founded on April 1, 1964, with the establishment of an independent company in Eckernförde, Schleswig-Holstein. The oldest special forces unit of the Bundeswehr is used for operations and missions in water, air, and land.
