With the HMR "Marksman," the Suhl firearms manufacturer C.G. Haenel introduces a semi-automatic rifle in the AR10 class that meets the highest standards of precision and ergonomics. The rifle offers constructive conditions for precision shooting in a prone position as well as for use in shooting on the move. This combination makes the rifle universally applicable. The HMR is a Marksman concept, intended for the mobile precision shooter at medium distances. Haenel is thus addressing its expertise in precision shooting to interested sports shooters. The classic precision caliber .308 Win. fits perfectly.
Haenel's CR self-loading rifles have also earned a good reputation in terms of long-range precision. This was crucial for Haenel to develop a new weapon based on the CR platform that expands the range of applications of the proven system. With the HMR "Marksman," C.G. Haenel adds a few crucial premium functions to the successful principle: The central charging handle on the upper receiver has been replaced. Instead, the rifle has been redesigned with a left-mounted bolt handle. This gives the shooter an ergonomic advantage in handling:
Long-range shooting often takes place in a prone position - and that is made possible with the side lever.
The elimination of the rear charging handle also allows for the use of the new cheek rest on the shoulder stock known from the CR rifle: The cheek rest is longer than standard and adjustable in height (+ 22 mm) with a knurled nut. The shoulder stock cap for pulling into the shoulder can also be adjusted in height by pressure buttons on both sides (+/- approx. 30 mm).
The rifle is designed as HMR - Haenel Marksman Rifle - for high precision and long shooting distances. For the professional demand, a special trigger has been developed that has a match characteristic and offers a lot in detail. The user can adjust it to trigger weights between 1,200 and 2,000 grams according to his habits; this also applies to the length of the pretravel. A detail for practitioners: The trigger adjustment screw is limited and built to be non-losable.
The new precision trigger has a clear breaking point and gives the shooter precise feedback on the technique and timing of the shot release. The rifle has a trigger safety with a sear safety. Unlike many AR variants, this design allows the rifle to be loaded while in the safe condition. The handguard has NAR and M-Lok mounts for attaching accessories. An A2 muzzle flash hider is installed on the muzzle of the HMR.
