German GunWorks HK243 "Luchs"

10/01/2015By Redaktion

Today German GunWorks presented the HK243 "Luchs". The base model is a black HK243 S-TAR which has been modified with various attachments. The Swabians equipped the rifle with an M4 folding stock with the Magpul CTR Stock and cheek rest to optimize handling. They also installed a Harris BRMS bipod, the Angled Foregrip, and the Rotex muzzle brake for suppressors.

To achieve optimal and fast target acquisition, the EOTech XPS 3-0 NV with a G33 Magnifier was chosen. For continuous ammo supply, six G36 magazines from Magpul were used. When it came to painting, they took a very old-school approach. Given free rein for the paint scheme, with only the specification of a "Military-Abfuck-Look", they chose a camouflage pattern inspired by World War I mimicry. Two shades of green, beige, and brown were used.

After the primer coat in beige, light and dark green colors were applied, typical of mimicry, with a black line to better break the contours. Then everything was covered with a clear matte lacquer. For aging effects, they intentionally chipped off paint from the perfectly painted gun. Following these steps, a nut-brown wash was applied to simulate some dirt on the gun.

The intermediate steps were very laborious, as they used a special paint-resin mixture for the effects, the gun was painted in parts, and had to be sanded multiple times for the effects - including for the finish, to achieve a deep matte effect.
