Landed: ARCAS in Germany

11/18/2021By Redaktion

At the Defence Innovation Pitch Day of the Behördenspiegel, the ARCAS (Assault Rifle Combat Application System) attracted great interest. Elbit Systems Germany was able to present the ARCAS to the German specialist audience for the first time and had it available for hands-on experience on site. Previously, this groundbreaking system had been shown in Israel and during DSEI in London. HERE we presented the ARCAS system on SPARTANAT.

ARCAS is a new system for infantry military use as well as for special forces of the armed forces and the police. It can combine any long gun with a weapon optic, night vision, and an AI-powered high-performance computing unit (with fire control, augmented reality, and more) into a powerful app-based overall system. This makes ARCAS the next generation of intelligent combat support for security forces in dismounted operations.

ARCAS has been developed in recent years with the support of experienced infantry soldiers in various scenarios. The system can be easily and quickly integrated to significantly enhance the capabilities of the infantry soldier.

Jürgen Escher, Chief Technical Officer of Elbit Systems Germany, highlighted during his system presentation: "ARCAS is compatible with any weapon. The weapon optics already in use can be integrated and reused. Eyepiece, optic, and weapon computer fit on any weapon rail. ARCAS opens up a variety of new possibilities and capabilities for the infantryman. In combat and training, he is supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Thanks to this AI, the soldier will receive a variety of new functions and be simultaneously relieved. This includes, among other things, automated object recognition, fire control, and data processing for forwarding to higher-level systems, as well as the user-friendly provision of a variety of information or support for training missions through augmented reality. The eyepiece or the XACT SE HUD as an additional option supports the operation with symbols for, e.g., navigation, target location and information, 3D terrain information, and an overall improved situational awareness. From our perspective, ARCAS would be an optimal addition to the upcoming generation of the Infantryman of the Future (IdZ) system and for the further development of the Panzergrenadier system."
