French order after

On November 30, 2020, the French Armaments Procurement Agency (DGA) ordered 12,000 HK 416 F assault rifles from the consortium Heckler & Koch SAS France and Heckler & Koch GmbH. The HK416 was chosen to gradually replace all FAMAS rifles that are still in stock. By 2028, 117,000 units are to be delivered to the army.

In 2020, 12,000 HK416 rifles were delivered, bringing the total number of rifles in the armed forces to 45,340. During the course of 2021, another 12,000 weapons will be delivered, and a new order for the same number of weapons will be placed according to the ordering rate set by the LPM.
