Rheinmetall has reached a significant milestone on the road to series maturity with the mobile air defense system Skyranger 30. In December 2023, a successful test and firing campaign was conducted with the Skyranger 30 in configuration A1 at the test center Ochsenboden/Switzerland, where the system had to prove itself stationary and in motion.
The Skyranger 30 A1 is a development platform that paves the way for the overall system qualification of the Skyranger 30 A3 by mid-2024. Since the A1 is designed flexibly, various customer variants with different radars and effectors can be efficiently tested and optimized. This is of great advantage in view of the imminent broad introduction of the Skyranger 30 in various European user nations.
Just recently - also in December 2023 - the NATO and EU member state Hungary commissioned Rheinmetall with the conceptual development of the Skyranger 30 turret for the future air defense variant of the Lynx KF41 tracked vehicle. Other user states, such as Denmark and Germany, plan to procure the Skyranger 30 solution on different wheeled armored vehicles.
The 30mmx173 KCE revolver cannon forms the central element of the Skyranger 30 and has impressively demonstrated its immense firepower and precision in testing under the most adverse weather conditions.
The Skyranger 30 A3 will decisively counter current and future threats from the air - for example, also from drones - and allow ground troops to focus on their actual tasks. The well-thought-out design of various effectors, high dynamics and a large elevation range as well as state-of-the-art sensors enable both autonomous and networked operation. The compact design of the turret allows integration on various manned and unmanned platforms, such as the 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle Boxer. The Skyranger 30 closes the current acute capability gap in mobile air defense. ALL INFORMATION about the Skyranger 30.
