EUROSATORY 24: Here comes CAESAR MkII

06/18/2024By Redaktion

KNDS offers the complete range of proven artillery systems. Nearly 200 KNDS artillery systems are in operation or under contract for Ukraine. Ukraine is the ninth user nation of the PzH 2000, which has been introduced with over 400 systems in European militaries, and the tenth user of the CAESAR, which has 600 systems under contract worldwide.

The CAESAR has proven itself worldwide as robust, reliable, and easy to maintain. These operational capabilities make the CAESAR system the most ordered modern artillery system. Therefore, KNDS has tripled the production rate of the CAESAR. Today, six CAESAR are produced every month.

For the first time, KNDS presents the CAESAR MkII: a new 6x6 chassis with a more powerful engine, improved protection, and a cabin prepared for the SCORPION Combat Information System (SIC-S).

The state-of-the-art wheeled howitzer RCH 155 and the field-proven PzH 2000 both demonstrate their technological leadership in the field of 155mm howitzers. Ukraine has signed a contract for 54 RCH 155 with KNDS. Recently, the UK and Germany have agreed to adapt the RCH 155 to national requirements in collaboration with KNDS, with a potential of 400 artillery systems. KNDS is working with its partners to develop and provide SHORAD and C-UAV systems.

A growing club of CAESAR and PzH 2000 user nations

Ukraine has become the tenth user nation of the CAESAR. This year, 78 systems are being produced for Ukraine. More than 600 CAESAR are currently in operation or under contract. Recently, France announced the procurement of 109 CAESAR MkII. Currently, 41 new PzH 2000 systems are under contract, with 54 more systems in discussions for Germany and Ukraine.

The KATANA Ammunition – Increasing the precision of 155mm artillery systems

The conflict in Ukraine has shown that proven long-range artillery systems for highly precise strikes are of special importance. To ensure a high level of precision, KNDS is developing the KATANA guided ammunition, which allows for a 10-meter precision strike at distances beyond 40 km.
