EUROSATORY 22: Elbit's tactical multi-mission radar

06/15/2022By Redaktion

“The DAiR system does not focus on prioritizing targets, but rather directs radar capability towards the needs of multi-domain warfare.” Elbit Systems introduces DAiR, an innovative tactical radar system for simultaneous use in multiple missions. The system eliminates the need for target prioritization and enables a significant improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of tactical terrain surveillance, protection against unmanned aerial systems, and border security. The new radar will be presented at the Elbit Systems booth at Eurosatory (Hall 6, D567).

The DAiR is a software-defined X-Band radar system that includes hundreds of digital receivers, advanced algorithms, and processing cores with AI capabilities. The system is capable of detecting and tracking thousands of objects of different sizes and speeds simultaneously without the need for target prioritization. These unique radar capabilities allow a tactical unit to detect an unprecedented number of targets of different types and ranges with a single radar system, including people, small quadcopters, helicopters, unmanned aerial systems, ships, and artillery. Incoming small drones are detected from up to 12 km away, people from up to 15 km away. The DAiR radar system is compatible with the ASTERIX protocols (All-purpose Structured EUROCONTROL Surveillance Information Exchange) and enables seamless information exchange with C4I systems. Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW, said: "As warfare becomes increasingly multidisciplinary, the ability to prioritize targets, which is central to old radar systems, becomes a burden. Forces are forced to deploy multiple radars just to keep pace with the evolving threat - it becomes more difficult to maintain a common operating picture and costs rise. The DAiR radar system addresses these challenges, does not focus on target prioritization, and thus directs radar capability towards the needs of multi-domain warfare."
