ENFORCE TAC 2019: The new assault rifle of the COBRA

The COBRA and the WEGA are upgrading. There are new assault rifles for the spearhead of the Austrian police. Now, the weapon may not look new at the top, it is traditionally a Steyr AUG. But what's new is the caliber: the weapon is now 300 BLK, the caliber is the western response to the challenge of the 7.62 caliber popular among terrorists. The new AUG doesn't seem to have been issued yet, but it has already been delivered to the COBRA, as confirmed by Steyr Arms.

The body of the weapon is not the traditional AUG body, but the NATO stock – but with the bolt release like an AUG A3 and here with a new, black magazine with interrupted viewing windows.

The magazine opening seems larger to us than in normal AUGs. But looks can be deceiving. .223 and 300 BLK come from the same opening.

You can clearly see the difference in the gas pressure system, which has been redesigned for the new, more powerful cartridge and its performance. The positions are also designed for 300 Whisper, i.e., silencer ammunition. The weapon at the Steyr booth is equipped with an upper rail from Corvus Defensio, the rail replacing the folding handle, comes from Steyr Arms itself.
