The light machine gun (LMG) FN MINIMI® developed by the Belgian company FN Herstal sets standards worldwide in its class. It is the most widely used LMG in NATO caliber and the standard weapon of many armed forces worldwide, including several NATO members. Now there is a new variant.
FN Herstal constantly adapts its products to the changing requirements of users and ensures that they always have the highest combat power. The FN MINIMI® is often equipped with an optical sight mounted on a rail integrated into the top cover of the front sight. However, it is difficult to mount two optics one behind the other on the existing rail.
Configurations with a longitudinal rail cover (23 slots) have been introduced for both the FN MINIMI® 5.56 Mk3 and the FN MINIMI® 7.62 Mk3, where the one-piece, rigid upper rail provides sufficient rail length for mounting two optics in series. For example, a day optic with a magnifier or a day optic with a night vision optic. Mounting both optics on one rail ensures reliable mounting and higher accuracy. The standard adjustable rear sight has been replaced by a non-adjustable folding rear sight. A lid lock keeps the cover open during loading, unloading, and cleaning to balance the weight of the optic.
This variant of the FN MINIMI® Mk3, available in calibers 5.56x45mm NATO or 7.62x51mm NATO, will be on display at the FN Herstal booth at the major EUROSATORY trade show from June 17 to 21, 2024 in Paris-Villepinte.
