The TRAUMA BOX from HARTMANN

04/16/2025By Hubert

Open wounds can quickly lead to death from infection or bleeding. So, the rapid treatment of such injuries can save lives, which is why the "Ulmer Trauma Box" was developed by IVF HARTMANN AG in collaboration with the Deutschen Traumastiftung. The TRAUMA BOX can provide effective first aid in emergencies and can be quickly applied by laypersons and professionals. Today we are presenting the TRAUMA BOX in detail.

Scope of delivery

The TRAUMA BOX is delivered in a sturdy box. After opening, the Trauma Box pouch and the included medical supplies are visible.

The medical equipment is sealed in the specially designed TRAUMA BOX pouch, which is equipped with a convenient handle. Inside, a tourniquet, compression bandage, and disposable gloves are neatly packed. The accompanying pictorial instructions allow non-medical personnel to provide timely and adequate first aid. The Trauma Box pouch is portable or can be stored in the dispenser.

The delivery includes a bilingual assembly manual, suitable screws and dowels, as well as a marking pen and adhesive pads.

The dispenser

The dispenser can be disassembled, which is particularly advantageous during assembly. A wall mount with a cover made of injection-molded plastic is attached on the left side. On the right side, there is an aluminum cover with the characteristic red inscription "BLUT STOPP TRAUMA-BOX" and yellow signal color. The dimensions of the dispenser are approximately 340 x 120 x 120 mm.

The TRAUMA BOX pouches are hung at the top of the wall mount. A corresponding hook is provided for installation.

The medical equipment is kept in a clean and accessible state.

Next, the metal cover is slid onto the wall mount, and the transparent cover is snapped into place.

The TRAUMA BOX is now in a ready-to-use state.

The TRAUMA BOX pouch

The Trauma Box pouch is hung in the dispenser and can be grasped and pulled out through the generously sized handles. However, before removing the pouch, it is necessary to remove the transparent cover.

Instructions for applying a tourniquet

The pouches are multilingual on the outside and contain instructions that explain the use of the medical product through visual representations. The instructions are easy to understand for laypersons.

This TRAUMA BOX pouch contains medical supplies for wound dressing. A detailed guide for applying the included bandage is also included.

It is recommended to follow the principle of simplicity. An arrow indicates the direction in which the pouch should be torn open. The handling is intuitive and efficient, allowing for quick access to the materials.

Let's move on to the contents of the TRAUMA BOX pouch for dressing wounds: The present Hartmann bandage is used for dressing heavily bleeding wounds. The bandage is equipped with an absorbent wound pad and a pressure applicator and was specifically developed for use by the military, as well as in disaster relief. HERE is the detailed review of the bandage on SPARTANT. A pair of disposable gloves is also included in the pouch.

In the dressing pouch, alongside the disposable gloves, a pen and a CAT GEN7 tourniquet are included. IFV HARTMANN AG will use a SAM tourniquet instead of the CAT in the future to enable safe tourniquet application by non-medical personnel in emergencies. The examination gloves are packaged in paper and include a visual instruction explaining which glove is intended for which hand. This is crucial as every second counts in an emergency, and the ability to follow such simple instructions under pressure is highly beneficial.

The TRAUMA BOX pouch can be replaced at any time with a refill set.

CONCLUSION

The goal of the TRAUMA BOX was to provide an efficient method for both laypeople and professional first responders, paramedics, police officers, and firefighters to quickly access medical supplies to stop a victim's bleeding until further rescue teams arrive.

The life-saving TRAUMA BOX should be positioned in locations accessible to the public, such as public spaces, subways, fairs, train stations, schools, sports halls, and shooting ranges. Every life matters. Every second counts.

The TRAUMA BOX can be purchased directly through the IFV HARTMANN AG as well as through retailers who have included the product in their range. The price for the box is 159 EUR, while the price for refill bags is 89 EUR.
