The tender for the update of the Nordic Combat Uniform (NCU 2.0) has been published. Denmark, Sweden, and Norway are participating, Finland is not. You can find the announcement HERE.
This tender is a joint procurement of the Nordic Combat Uniform (NCU) System by the Danish Ministry of Procurement and Logistics (Contracting Authority), the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA).
The goal of the NCU System is to protect the soldier from threats in their operational environment. The NCU System is intended to complement the existing combat uniform system, including outer, middle, and inner layers, following the concept of "more of the same." The combat uniform system is intended for soldiers of both genders in all military services. The NCU System is intended for use in all geographic areas where the three nations are involved in or could be involved in military operations.
The inner and middle layers are knitted from wool and wool blends. The demand is estimated to be between 500,000 and 1,000,000 units per year. The outer layers, including combat, insulation, and rain layers, are also expected to be demanded in the range of 400,000 to 800,000 units per year.
