The German Navy welcomes about 30 ships and boats from twelve nations to the 131st Kiel Week from June 20 to June 29, 2025. More than 1,800 sailors from around the world will bring the maritime atmosphere to life.
Among the guests are, for example, the U.S. command ship USS Mount Whitney and the destroyer USS Paul Ignatius.
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the German Navy's training ship, the Gorch Fock, will also return from its 182nd overseas training voyage. The Gorch Fock will lead the Tall Ships Parade on Saturday, June 28, a colorful spectacle that brings maritime tradition to life.
“Every year it is a special highlight when the naval base Kiel-Wik fills up with many ships, boats, and their crews from different nations for Kiel Week. This year we will again open our gates for the Open Ship on Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, 2025, to give interested visitors a direct impression of the Navy. After the return of the Gorch Fock to its home port, an additional small Open Ship will be offered on Friday, June 27, 2025, to allow visitors to tour the training ship. The races of the traditional cutter regatta will also take place in the fjord. I invite all Kiel residents and visitors of Kiel Week to let themselves be fascinated by the Navy,” said the commander of the naval base Kiel-Wik, frigate captain Frank Hallmann. The last entry for the Open Ship is at 4 PM.
