There were times when belts used plastic buckles. Then came the Cobra Buckle from AustriaAlpin (HERE our interview with AustriaAlpin about the Cobra) and shook up this world. Sometimes lately it felt like a belt without a Cobra wasn't a belt anymore. The new ITW Nexus GT Cobra Buckle sets the world right again.
Well, someone has shamelessly borrowed the Cobra design, was our first thought. In fact, ITW Nexus has teamed up with AustriaAlpin and developed the plastic Cobra. No wonder: not every belt needs a metal buckle. And not every belt needs a breaking load of 18 kN (1,800 kilograms). The GT Cobra Buckle can withstand 250 kilograms and that is more than enough. At the moment, it is only available in black. We have no doubt that this will change soon. At the moment, it is made to fit on 45 mm webbing. There will surely be more options in the future.
And if you don't want to invest in a belt with the new GT Cobra, it is definitely great for replacing old buckles. This Eagle Industries War Belt, for example, will get the plastic Cobra, which will serve reliably here.
The AustriAlpin Cobra Click Buckle CNC7075 Aluminium costs 17 euros at Tacticaltrim.de. The ITW Nexus GT Cobra Buckle is available for 11.95 euros (excluding shipping).
