The British Army is looking for the future.

08/07/2024By Redaktion

The "Tommies" are gearing up. Cutting-edge data visualization tools, integrated sensors, and real-time information are combined in a single system called the Future Integrated Dismounted Soldier Vision (FIDSV).

The helmet features integrated power and data supply, an improved audio system, a universal head-up display interface (HUD), and an integrated strobe warning system for friend-foe recognition. An attached Helmet-Mounted Night Vision System (HMNVS) with overlayable image data is also being used. It combines image intensification with thermal imaging. The device looks like the ENVG-B from ELBIT, which is also used by the US Army.

The next generation of body-worn technology has been put to the test by British soldiers and brings a modernized advantage on the battlefield. The goal of the tests is to integrate available technologies into wearable technologies for soldiers in order to enhance battlefield awareness and enable faster tactical decisions.

There are also significant advancements in the rifle, with new thermal imaging sights.

A smart fire control sight with ballistic computer is a must for modern soldiers, including the British. It's intriguing to see an AR-15 variant in the hands of the Brits.

A small screen can also be mounted on the helmet to display various positional data and other useful information.

Small drones for reconnaissance and exploration are also part of the FIDSV program. We are eager to see which parts of the new equipment will prevail.
