The giant Schalli by SureFire

06/04/2020By Redaktion

"The taming of the beast has been successful," headlines SureFire their new suppressor for .50 BMG, the SOCOM50-SPS. What's interesting is that this signature suppressor is both a suppressor and compensator at the same time. We haven't seen this combination before.

The SOCOM50-SPS features an integrated muzzle brake that reduces recoil by 66% to greatly reduce shooter felt recoil and enable faster follow-up shots. This reduction in recoil is achieved while maintaining a 99% reduction in muzzle flash to conceal the shooter's location.

The force of the .50 caliber is not limited to the area in front of the muzzle. The blast overpressure and acoustic loading from unsuppressed .50 caliber rifles have significant negative effects on the shooter. Recent tests conducted by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) have shown that the SOCOM50-SPS practically eliminates blast overpressure. Additionally, the sound from unsuppressed .50 caliber rifles is typically so high that most hearing protection does not provide enough noise reduction to adequately protect the shooter from hearing damage. The SureFire SOCOM50-SPS reduces sound at the shooter's ear by approximately 30 dB, preserving the shooter's hearing, enhancing communication ability, and overall improving operational performance.

The SOCOM50-SPS suppressor is mounted on rifles using the SureFire muzzle brake. Together, they provide rock-solid attachment with extremely minimal and consistent point-of-impact shift for highest precision in seconds. Compatible muzzle brakes include the SFMB-TAC50, SFMB-HT1, and SFMB-M107.
