The sixth branch of the US military has revamped its logo and unveiled it along with a motto. It's quite neat and filled with elements of significance. We'll tell you what they are.
The motto "Semper Supra" translates literally to "Always above" in English, as space is always above us. Well, technically around us, but let's not get too philosophical. The silver border is meant to represent protection against all influences from space, symbolized by the black. The four prominently displayed triangles are meant to represent the four branches of the military - Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines. Apparently, the Coast Guard as the fifth branch doesn't warrant protection.
The star in the center is Polaris, or the North Star, symbolizing that the Space Force adheres to its core values. The two silver peaks inside represent rocket launches into space or low Earth orbits, the core competency of the US Space Force. These are the symbolisms hidden within the logo. Nevertheless, the logo still reminds us of Star Trek, but considering that the delta symbol was first used in 1961 by the US Air Force and Space Command, and Star Trek, the television series, wasn't aired until 1966, it's pretty clear who might have inspired whom.
