Drones in the air are omnipresent in Ukraine. But what is also exciting is the increase in "ground drones" that are being deployed and seemingly tested in the field: UGVs with and without weapons on both sides, about which little is heard.
Ukrainian sources report that unknown Russian UGVs equipped with 30mm AGS-17 launchers were used in combat for the first time. In the cover image, a drone captures the destroyed attackers. Here on Twitter you can watch the whole video:
The "battle" took place in Berdychy, which is now occupied by Russian troops, according to a Russian source: "As part of the combat mission, a group of attack drones supported the attack operations and with the installed AGS-17 grenade launcher modules, destroyed the Ukrainian positions in the village, firing off several hundred grenades. During the combat mission, the drones showed good results. The drones were able to continue their operation even under conditions where the loss of personnel and expensive equipment due to enemy fire would have been inevitable." The video above is likely from the Ukrainian side, as it shows the neutralization of armed ground drones by FPV attacks.
Armed ground drones are another trend that can be observed in Ukraine. The UGVs with weapons, like their counterparts in the air, are not autonomous but controlled. As weapon carriers, they can be deployed at key points on the front line and also accompany infantry units as a mobile aid.
Here is an interesting Twitter topic presenting Russian UGV types:
