Denmark procures iguana bridge layers

12/17/2019By Redaktion

The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) signed a contract on December 12, 2019 for the procurement of seven Leguan bridge laying systems on Leopard 2 chassis. The order includes a total of six Leguan systems, a comprehensive peripheral package, training simulators, and an additional carrier vehicle. Delivery of the bridge layers will begin at the end of 2022.

Denmark thus becomes the ninth nation to transition to the high-performance Leguan-Leopard 2 and relies on the system's high performance, reliability, and unique interoperability.

The Leguan is capable of transporting and laying a bridge with a length of 26 meters or alternatively two bridges with a length of 14 meters each under combat conditions. Armies from 19 countries operate the Leguan bridge laying system on various mobility platforms.
