Carbon barrels from Proof Research for Germany

03/27/2017By Redaktion

From the middle of the year, the well-known Proof Carbon barrels are finally available in Germany. IEA Mil-Optics from Nagold and Proof Research from Virginia Falls (Montana/USA) are currently working on various government projects and do not want to withhold this technology from the German market due to high demand.

Proof Research is a leader in the production of carbon barrels and uses high-end technology from military aviation. At the facility in northwestern Montana, Proof Research has state-of-the-art machinery, production facilities, and indoor shooting ranges for testing up to .50BMG caliber. The development and testing are supported by the use of thermal imaging and high-speed ballistics cameras capable of capturing up to one million images per second. The carbon barrels - pictured above during production - from Proof are the only carbon barrels available on the market that have been in use by the US-SOCOM for several years. They are also becoming increasingly popular in the civilian market. Thanks to the wrapping, PROOF barrels are up to 64% lighter and cool up to 56% faster than conventional barrels. With significantly faster cooling, mirage and temperature-induced point of impact shifts are minimized. The barrels are suitable for both single-shot and semi-automatic rifles.

Initially, complete systems (system, bolt, and barrel) from Proof will be offered for Remington 700 stocks. The calibers offered are .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmore.

Individual replacement barrels in these calibers will be available exclusively for gunsmiths.
