Born in 1974 during the Vietnam War, his family fled the country in 1979 on a crowded boat. First to a refugee camp in Indonesia, and eventually to the USA. His mother later married a Green Beret there. Tu Lam later joined the Army and then various special units, from Special Forces to Delta Force. Since the operations in "The Unit" are highly secretive, Lam is still not allowed to talk about them. But he has operated in 27 countries around the world and left the US Army in 2016.
